Frequently Asked Questions

About Moonhopper's AI voice-assistant service.

What does a Moonhopper voice assistant actually do?

It answers inbound calls to your business 24/7. It holds a natural conversation with the caller, collects their name, phone number, service address, and reason for calling, and then texts the lead straight to your phone. You also get an email with the full call recording and a transcript.

Do callers know they're talking to an AI?

Yes. Every assistant introduces itself on pickup and makes clear the caller is speaking with a virtual assistant. We don't try to pass it off as a human — local service customers respond better to transparency, and it keeps you compliant with TCPA and state disclosure rules.

What happens if the AI can't answer a question?

The assistant is scoped to what a receptionist would know: hours, service area, the types of work you do, and how to collect a lead. If a caller asks something outside of that scope, the assistant tells them a team member will follow up — and that follow-up lands in your SMS and email within seconds of the call ending.

How long does setup take?

Typical turnaround is a few days from the first call to a live assistant on your business line. We start with a short discovery call, configure the assistant to match how you actually answer the phone, test it end-to-end with you, and then port or forward your existing number.

Do I need to change my business phone number?

No. Most clients keep their existing business number and forward unanswered or after-hours calls to the Moonhopper assistant. If you'd rather route every call through the assistant first, we can set that up too.

What kinds of businesses is this built for?

Local service businesses that live and die by inbound calls — landscapers and lawn care, plumbers, pest control, HVAC, handyman and repair shops, tree services, and similar trades. If missed calls cost you jobs, the assistant pays for itself.

How do Moonhopper tenants consent to SMS lead notifications?

After a business owner signs up for Moonhopper service, we send them a secure, single-use email link to a confirmation page. On that page they review the Terms of Service and an SMS disclosure, then click a button to expressly opt in to receive automated SMS lead notifications from the Moonhopper sender number. Their consent is logged with a timestamp and the IP address of the click. The Terms and disclosures shown on that confirmation page are published at /sms-consent.

What data do you keep, and who sees it?

We retain call recordings, transcripts, and SMS logs for up to 12 months to support your operations. The lead information from each call is only shared with you — we don't sell or share caller data with third parties for marketing. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
